Make Quilts - Make History

Textile Traditions On The Road

Quilt Shop to Go!
Textile Traditions is a quilt shop on the go! We take our traveling shop to quilt shows, retreats, classes and all kinds of events. Our quilt show schedule is below--check to see when we will be in your area and come visit. Having a retreat or guild event? We can bring our shop to YOU so that you will have everything you need at your retreat. We can custom tailor our goods to your event theme or project--just let us know what you have planned.

Classes to Go!

See a class on our schedule that interests you? We are happy to bring our classes to you anywhere in the western US. Locally (Trinity, Shasta, Humboldt & Tehama Counties) there is no travel fee, all we ask is a minimum of 6 students. For areas farther from home, lodging and fuel reimbursement is needed, but we will work with your group to keep costs down in these tough economic times. We generally prefer to stay in a guest room at our hosts home rather than motels anytime! A few of our more popular classes are listed below:

Kimono in a Day for Quilters with Sue Rhodes
What quilter couldn’t use a lovely, elegant kimono for lounging about in style and comfort? This kimono will fit and flatter in any size and can be customized as a one-of-a-kind work of wearable art. They also make great gifts for anyone: the pattern is multi-sized for men, women & kids. This pattern is customized for quilters-you cut it out with rotary cutters! Learn tailoring tricks and finishing seams that give professional finish.
Instructor: Sue Rhodes 530-623-6454
Fee: $35 per student, includes multi-size pattern (a $12 value!), 6 students minimum

Sew-Green Shopping Bag Workshop with Sue Rhodes
Its time to go green. Make your own one-of-a-kind, reusable, reversable, washable shopping bag to use when shopping. Your bags will be so gorgeous that you will NEVER forget them in the car! Our exclusive pattern is quick to make and wastes no fabric. It is not quilted so that you can roll them up and fit them in your purse for ease of use. Did we mention that they also make great gifts? Do your part for our planet and help our country reduce its dependance on foreign oil products by becomming part of the solution to plastic bag pollution!
Instructor: Sue Rhodes 530-623-6454
Fee: $25 per student, 6 student minimum. Pattern included in class fee.

Color Theory for Quilters with Bridget Carson, Graphic Artist
Learn to use color fearlessly after learning color theory. Taught by a professional graphic artist, you will learn to use the color wheel and other tools to create stunning quilts. Learn about the psychology of color, matching colors by values and what your TRUE favorite colors are. Includes a CD with even more great information for working with color.
Instructor: Bridget Carson 530-623-1961
Fee: $25 per student, includes book on CD ($10 value). 8 students min, up to 100 OK (no sewing in this class, is a lecture format with trunk show). This teacher is very humorous and our students love this class.

Beginning Level Classes with Cindy Andrews, AA
Cindy is a warm, sweet, supportive teacher and our students just LOVE her. She is famous for bringing homemade treats to share and her wild "Trivia" contests. Students come away with new skills, a satisfied sweet tooth and out of breath from all the laughing! Instructor: Cindy Andrews 530-623-6454 or 530-623-6082

Eleanor Burns Pattern Books With classes based on the pattern books by Eleanor Burns, Cindy is great at encouraging new quilters to increase their skills. She teaches any of these books, so you have good sales of the books and any templates/tools EB recommends to make the quilt.
Fee: $35 per person or $50 per person for two day classes

Straight to the Point: Cindy also does a class called “straight to the point” based on the patterns in that series. The pattern she uses is called “Chock Full O Charms”. If you don’t have these patterns she can get them for youl. The class uses two charm packs, the quilt is sewn “straight” and then cut and reassembled on point. Very cool class, great for beginners and charm enthusiasts. Fee: $35 with pattern included or $30 if you sell the book/pattern. Prefers smaller classes of 6 to 8 for beginning students

4-Corners Apron Cindy's most requested class is the 4-corners Apron by Vanilla House Patterns. This class is great for beginner-to-expert and the entire apron is completed in class. This class will bring new students into your shop. Once they make their first apron, they will want to make many more for gifts. Fee: $35
