We are really excited about the arrival of the Presencia threads! These top quality, Egyptian cotton threads are highly mercerized for a beautiful sheen only matched by their strength and reliability. Available for decades in Europe, Australia and South America, these fine products are finally available to quilters & crafters in the USA. Made in Spain, thread tests and reviews make this one of the best quality threads/floss available on the market. In most cases, it is at the top in quality tests.

The Thread:

Presencia threads are 50/3 (50 weight is great for machine or hand sewing, 3 ply gives extra strength and smoothness) and we have over 200 colors to choose from! With more thread colors to choose from, you can find a match for any fabric in your stash. They are also a great value--a 100 meter spool (approx 110 yards) is only $1.69 each.

Harriet Hargrave, a maverick in the field of machine quilting, endorses Presencia threads for machine piecing, quilting and thread painting applications. I've tried it in my machine and for hand sewing--it is wonderful to work with and the wide choice of colors makes for great possibilities with art quilting.

The Floss:

Wow! Over 300 colors to choose from! We keep it in a cabinet to prevent soiling from dust, the Presencia Finca floss has a stunning sheen and excellent consistency of color. Available in 8 meter skeins (approx 8.5 yards--same as DMC), we not only have a huge selection of color, but metallic floss and an entire drawer of variegated floss. They are an excellent value at 75¢ each.

We have a conversion chart for DMC and Anchor floss to make matching colors in printed patterns easy for you. We are very pleased to expand our store with floss and supplies for embroidery! Sue, Brenda and Cindy are all seasoned embroidery enthusiasts--Sue started embroidery in elementary school and one of her first jobs was as an embroidery teacher. Quilters will appreciate the embellishment possiblities of this great floss.

"The Finca is much smoother than other brands. It seemed to glide throught the canvas. The sheen is higher than that of other brands, and that shine lasted longer too. I purposely used very long strands, as these lengths should have become dull and worn looking, but they kept their beauty far longer than I expected.

"The colors are deep and vibrant. When I tried water tests on a few of them, I couldn't get any to bleed, not even black, red, or navy. The variegated colors are especially pleasing as they move from one value to the next. The blending is very smooth. Don't forget to look at the Mouline. It's a metallic thread and comes in silver, gold and champagne. I particularly like the champagne. Its a cross between the silver and gold. Wonderful!"
