Exhibitors are invited to display their quilts at multiple venues
in the historic district. Display areas are free of charge and all
exhibitors are solely responsible for the security of their items.
All display quilts should be in place by 9AM and remain on display
until 4PM. Those who wish to hang their own items are welcomed to
do so, please call the Installation Coordinator to arrange for display
area.
Those who wish their quilts considered for awards
must indicate so on their identification label. Judged quilts must
be turned in to the Textile Traditions Quilt Shop drop-off point,
deadline to submit quilts for judging is 5PM on Friday, September
25. Read more about awards and judging below.
Don't want to get up early? You may drop off your non-judged quilts
at these secure locations: Textile Traditions, 555-C Main Street in
Weaverville or Weaverville Realty on Main Street, Weaverville. Our
volunteers will install your quilt in an appropriate venue, then return
it to the drop/off location for pick up. Quilts may be dropped off
anytime after 10AM on September 29, and must be picked up by 6PM on
Tuesday October 6th.
All quilts displayed in the Quilt Show must have a Quilt show
identification label sewn securely to the right front corner of the
quilt. Follow the instructions on the label for best results.
You may pick up a label at any of the drop off locations mentioned
above or print one from the links below.

Judging
Information
Featured each year are special awards for exceptional quilts. Quilts
to be considered for these awards must have an official Quilt Show
identification label attached, check which award you want your quilt
judged for (select ONE award only). Most awards are for cash prizes.
Judged quilts must be delivered/shipped to the drop-off location
by 5PM on Friday, September 26. Judging will take place on Monday
, September 28 at Textile Traditions quilt shop. You are welcome to
attend the judging, but please do not interfere with the judge (no
comments until judging completed. You quilts will be kept in a secure
location until installed for the quilt show.

for this year's quilt show include:
Weaverville Hotel Crazy Quilt Award - $250 value
Presented to the most outstanding crazy quilt, old or new. Crazy quilts
are judged for artistic merit, skill of composition and Victorian
appeal. Crazy quilts submitted by owner, need not be quiltmaker. Award
is a one-night stay in the best available room at the Weaverville
Hotel, an up to $265 value!.

Textile Traditions Award - $100
Presented to an outstanding quilt made of fabric from the Textile
Traditions Quilt Shop. Quilt must contain at least 75% fabric obtained
at Textile Traditions, to be verified by owners Sue or Brenda. Verified
quilts will be judged for pleasing design and technical excellence
of construction by the judge. The award is a certificate and $100
gift certificate.

Award - $85 value
What's black & white & red (read) all over? The Trinity Journal
and stunning quilts made of red, white and black fabrics! This award

as long as it uses the colors specified. The award is a certificate

Presented to the most meaningful quilt. Award is for a quilt
that speaks to both quilters and non-quilters in a meaningful way.

NEW for 2010 Autumn in the Alps
Challenge - $100
Pick up your challenge entry packet this year so you can enter
the 2010 challenge! Each year, a new theme will be selected and we
invite quilters to interpret this theme in fabric. Entry packets will
contain 3 fat quarters of selected fabric and contest information,
cost of the packet is $5. Quilts will be miniatures, 36" square
or less and must contain at least 2 square inches of each challenge
fabric. The theme selected for 2010 is "Autumn in the Alps".
Packets available at Textile Traditions Quilt Shop from October 3-December
31, 2009.

Youth Awards
The Thursday Night Strippers Quilt Guild sponsors awards for the
next generation of quilters! Young quilters 14 years of age or younger
can enter their quilts to be professionally judged and can win cash
prizes for exceptional work. Awards are for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in three
categories:
- Ages 3-7
- Ages 8-12
- Ages 13-17
Youth quilts must have a show ID label attached and be delivered
to the judging drop-off point (Textile Traditions Quilt Shop) by 5PM
on Friday, September 25 2009. Quilts which have won a youth award
in previous years are not eligible. Awards will be announced on Tuesday,
September 29th by 5PM on this website. Award information and/or pictures
of the winning quilts may be submitted to the local newspaper. By
entering your quilt, you hereby give permission to the Thursday Night
Strippers Quilt Guild to photograph the winning quilts for the website/promotional
materials for the Autumn in the Alps Quilt Show. Credit will be given
to the maker/s of the quilt in any images used. Guidelines
for general quilt awards will apply to the youth awards.
Awards are cash: $15 first prize, $10 for second prize, and $5 for
third per category.
The 2009 People's Choice Youth Award is sponsored by Girl
Scout Troop 101 of Weaverville. The People's choice award
is determined by ballots submitted by viewers at the Bandstand, the
award is $25 cash.
